A card with the skeletal leaf

Here is a card that I made using the skeletal leaf.

Skeletal Leaves

Here is my experiment with making skeletal leaves.

Step 1

I put some autumn leaves, that I gathered in the park, into the water with soda (crystalline heptahydrate) and boiled it for an half-hour.

Step 2

I put the leaf on the plate with warm clean water and gently washed it with an old toothbrush until it's meat separated from the streaks. After that I placed the leaf into the whitener because it had yellow tint.

Step 3

To make this leaf dry and smooth I ironed it between two sheets of paper.

This is the result

I succeeded only with maple-leaves. So my experiments will go on. :)

I found a book with interesting examples of the fancywork. Silk ribbons are used instead of threads. I tried this technique, here is what I did.
